Ireland's science wildlife and discovery magazine

About SPIN

About Science SPIN

Science Spin was established in April 2003 by three journalists, Tom Kennedy, Seán Duke, and Mary Sweetman. These journalists had identified a significant gap in the reporting of science in the Irish media, north and south, and sought to redress the situation.

Unlike many other developed nations around the world, even those of similar size and population, Ireland never had a popular science magazine of its own. Irish readers, interested in science had to content themselves with a selection of UK or USA based magazines.

The growing numbers that are buying, subscribing and contributing to Science Spin show that interest in science is alive and well in Ireland. In 2003, 2004, and 2005 Science Spin was published four times per year, while in 2006, that grew to six times per annum.

The goal of Science Spin is to present science in a dynamic, attractive and informative manner for both a lay and specialist readership. The coverage extends from Astronomy to Zoology, but the editorial approach remains the same - to make science interesting to all.

This revamped website represents another major step forward in the ongoing development of Science Spin, as we reach out to new audiences at home and abroad.
